About Michael Rapp
Michael
Rapp has been an architect for 25 years, ten of which he spent in New
York. He has been a Feng Shui consultant for ten years and developed
the leading software for professional Feng Shui consultants in Europe
and North America. For the last five years Michael has focused applying
his knowledge of Feng Shui to each step in the planning process. Now
Michael is totally hooked and experiences each new project as an exciting
exploration of how Feng Shui can guide to a convincing solution.
Michael Rapp is a chartered Architect and Feng Shui Consultant in
Munich, Germany.
Practical approach to Feng Shui Building Design
Michael is a passionate architect and Feng Shui has tremendously expanded
his ability to design buildings of astonishing quality. In his view
Feng Shui should become a required course for everyone pursuing a
degree in architecture or design.
"And the great news is that Feng Shui has also made my job a
lot easier!"
One might assume that the elements of Feng Shui add
complexity to the already demanding process of design! Surprisingly,
Michael has discovered the opposite is true! With the proper methodology
Feng Shui guides the process to a coherent solution. That leads to
certainty and frees from indecision and doubt. The lecture will in
detail show how certainty just "appears" when following a
careful methodology.
Traditionally design solutions result from the
elimination of inferior choices. With Feng Shui the process is streamlined
to a solution fulfilling the many requirements found in the Feng Shui
analysis. It also makes client communication much easier as the process
is more fact than purely aesthetic based.
In Michael's work Feng Shui
does not appear at all mystical but reveals itself as a tool that helps
to shape a building. There aren't any references to the Chinese culture
necessary, just carefully placed walls, windows and doors - a quite "normal
looking" house is the result.

Making connection to a place requires
careful and exacting analysis of the environment. It is a sometimes
tedious task, but from Michael's point of view, cannot be abbreviated
by "gut feelings". One
particular building design fits only one single location! It is the
analysis of the Qi situation of a place, methodically categorized into
3 components, Human, Earth and Heaven Qi, that builds the foundation
of Michael's design.
A major part of the challenges in today's modern
architecture is a misconception of what is essential about building.
Feng Shui can guide the way as Tao Teh Ching explains in this famous
poem:
Thirty spokes converge upon a single hub;
It is the hole in the centre that the use of the cart hinges
We make a vessel from a lump of clay;
It is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful
We make doors and windows for a room;
But it is these empty spaces that make the room livable
Thus, while the tangible has advantages,
It is the intangible that makes it useful.

As most of modern architecture's interest goes towards organizing
walls, columns and glass, the quality of the void suffers. Feng Shui
offers great tools to examine and shape that void to make buildings
more energetic and powerful for the people who live and work in that
space.
Michael will present his very personal down to earth approach to Feng
Shui. At this talk you will:
- see some great techniques to visualize Feng Shui,
- - hear about a
clear methodology that can guide you through difficult projects,
- - learn
about some Feng Shui software that will speed up your computations
as well as
- - enable you to present your consultation professionally
to your clients.
Feng Shui is an indispensible tool for Michael's architectural practice.
Anyone who wants to see how unique design solutions adapt closely
to the people, the environment and the task, should come to this
talk. Michael is enthusiastic about sharing his experience with you.
