Environmental Psychology:
How Close is Too Close and Other Insights on SubConscious Responses to Our Spaces
with Linda Varone

What is Environmental Psychology and how it can help the Feng Shui practitioner. Environmental Psychology identifies the many subconscious responses that we all have to our surroundings, a powerful tool for Feng Shui practitioners. Environmental Psychology illuminates the insights of Feng Shui in easy to understand cause and effect language.

Learn about the Yin and Yang of the basic human need for both community and privacy. How to create homes and offices that meet each need.
What is personal distance, social distance and formal distance? How ignoring these comfort zones can sabotage the success of your client's space.
How to arrange a place to meet the basic human need for light
Using light to gather a family together.
Using light to enhance office productivity.
What is a "Zen Window" and how it adds to a person's experience of a space?
What is the Hierarchy of Privacy for Home and Office? How recognizing this improves client satisfaction in your recommendations.
What are the necessary elements of a balcony or patio that will be actively used rather than be just a display place for garden furniture?
What situations cause vertigo and how to work with them?
What are the special needs of children? And how meeting them minimizes the need for children to invade their parent's spaces.
What architectural elements support interaction with nature?

My presentation will be generously illustrated with slides and practical examples.  Both theory and solutions will be covered. Participants will gain insights and solutions that they can immediately apply.

I draw on the work of Christopher Alexander - author of A Pattern Language and Anita Olds - author of Child Care Design,  as well as my own observations and work.
