Presentation Objectives:

1.  Describe the role of Environmental Psychology in the design and development of the built environment.
2.  Discuss the similarities between the ancient practice of Feng Shui and the modern research generated by Environmental Psychologist.
3.  Identify Feng Shui principles that are used in the everyday practice of design.
4.  Analyze the importance of merging ancient belief systems with modern science as a means of achieving a holistic design.


About David Kopec

David Kopec has a Ph.D. in Environmental Psychology, M.S. in Community Psychology, B.S. in Public Health, studied Feng Shui in China, is certified by the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing, and is a member of the American Institute of Architecture.  Dr. Kopec is also a full time Professor of Design at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design, a faculty member at the Design Institute of San Diego, a regular columnist for Realty Times, and a reviewer for the Journal of Interior Design as well as Fairchild Publishing Inc. He is the author of the first textbook on Environmental Psychology specifically geared to the design professions (To be released in Fall of 2005).
