Space clearing takes many forms around
the world. In shamanic societies Space is considered to be part
of the Great Mother, and Time the realm of the Great Father. Through
divination into the hidden aspects of these two realms, shamans
are able to clear issues in both the present, the past and the future.
Through the vehicle of ritual, past problems can be revealed and
addressed and their consequences in the present and the future prevented.
Because this type of clearing is performed in sacred space, it also
has the potential to heal deep spiritual and psychological wounds
for individuals, families and whole communities. At its most refined,
shamanistic energy clearing is a planetary healing that can benefit
the entire world.
Healing the Body: Design principles for
Hospitals and Clinics
Despite great advances in technology, most hospitals
are not places that encourage healing and regeneration. Healthy
and healing spaces are not accidental: they all partake of good
form, proper energy flow and a strong respect for the energies of
the land. The metaphysical principles that
govern our relationship to health and healing need to be understood
in order to design spaces that can be used not only to "fix"
illness, but also to promote recuperation and good health. It is
not possible to place healing structures on unhealthy land, for
example, and expect a healing to occur.

Bio
Alex Stark is an internationally recognized counselor, advisor,
and teacher on issues of transformation, creativity and healing.
A graduate of the Yale University School of Architecture, he is
a practitioner of Feng Shui and oriental geomancy and astrology.
A native of Peru, he is also a student of curanderismo, an ancient
shamanic tradition from the Andes which is based in
reverence to the Earth and reciprocity between all living beings.
Alex has been a consultant to the United Nations Development Program
on issues of urban and regional planning and has lectured at the
Smithsonian Institution on healing and clearing techniques. His
work has been featured on CNN, PBS, The New York Times, Crain's,
New York Magazine, and others. His clients include Beth Israel Hospital,
Beth Abraham Hospital Group, Maimonides Medical Center, St. Mary's
