| Tao Health and Integrative medicine
with Karen Erickson
Join
us on a journey to explore ancient Taoist health principles and
see how they remain vital and have influenced the new emerging paradigm
of Integrative Health Care. We will survey various healing arts
such as food energetics, vitamins and botanicals, acupuncture and
gua sha, chiropractic, cranial sacral therapy and other hands on
healing techniques, energy medicine such as homeopathy, mind-body
techniques and movement therapies such as yoga, tai chi and dance.
Like Feng Shui, these healing arts help us create health and harmony
in our lives. Awareness of these healing principles enables each
one of us to navigate health issues and choose the most appropriate
path of healing for ourselves and our loved ones.
Karen Erickson, D.C. is a pioneer in the field
of Integrative Health Care. She earned a BS in Biology and Chemistry
and went on to become an honors graduate of New York Chiropractic
College in 1988. In 2001, Dr. Erickson was the first Chiropractor
to be credentialed by a major teaching hospital in the United States.
Her work at Beth Israel's Center for Health and Healing in New York
City created a groundbreaking collaboration of medical doctors with
other types of health care providers. She worked closely with indigenous
and ancient healing systems including Ayurevedic, Native American,
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Accupuncture. Her work created
an historic expansion of the role of chiropractic and cranial sacral
therapy in mainstream medicine. She has lectured extensively to
medical doctors, chiropractors, and the public on various aspects
of Integrative Health Care. Dr. Erickson's goal is to shift the
paradigm of health care to a more integrative model that honors
the mind/body/spirit nature of reality.
